Regression therapy and antidepressant withdrawal

If you are experiencing side effects from antidepressant withdrawal, hypnotherapy and regression therapy can help.

Like so many others, I was prescribed a pill that promised to take my emotional pain away. Some experience horrible side effects, some nothing at all, and some like me did experience relief for a time. And while this pill put a lid on my traumas, I felt like I had healed. Except the side effects started to surface, and after nearly a decade medicating myself, I felt I had done the inner work to come off. I didn’t have a clue how to safely taper off these pills, and neither did those that prescribed them in the first place. I also didn’t know that as the lid the pills put in place dissolved away, any unaddressed trauma and emotions would burst to the surface. The initial wave of withdrawal was the scariest and loneliness place I’ve ever been in my life. A true dark night of the soul. It is hard to put into words the absolute desolation that such a tiny pill can inflict. The trouble is, my story is far from unique.

I have met so many beautiful people that have lived on the edge of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual suffering because of a pill they were never properly informed about or consented to. And even once the horrors of withdrawals revealed themselves, their experiences were not believed by the medical system they once trusted. Maybe some would have still chosen this route, maybe the benefits still outweighed the risks, but every human has the right to informed consent and autonomy over their own body.

What’s happening? Antidepressants put an artificial lid on emotions from past trauma, keeping them repressed. When you begin the journey of tapering off the medications, the lid is lifted, and all of the unresolved emotional trauma resurfaces. Depending on how long the medications have been used, this can be years or oven decades worth of repressed trauma! Needless to say, this process can be very overwhelming especially on top of any physical side effects from the withdrawal process.

How does Regression Therapy help? Regression therapy allows us to go back and release the trapped emotional trauma at the root of the issue. This process softens reactivity and facilitates a true healing process. Regression therapy has been monumental in my own personal healing journey from antidepressant withdrawal.

If you feel alone, know that you truly are not. You don’t have to suffer silently. Share your story. Cry and scream and hold each other close. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t have those few special people that carried hope for me when it was too much to manage myself. In this human connectedness you will find the strength to go on on your hardest days. Because there will be many hard days, but there will be good days again too. There will be a return of smiles and laughter and joy. And sometimes what you need to get you to a good moment again, is someone to help cradle your light.

Healing antidepressant withdrawal is possible. Healing depression is possible. Healing anxiety is possible. When we go to the root cause, all healing is possible.
